In an interview, Thibault Sottiaux, head of OpenAI’s core product suite—including the API, agent infrastructure, enterprise tools, ChatGPT classic, and Codex—outlined the strategy behind ChatGPT Work. Sottiaux highlighted the company’s mission to diffuse AI capabilities to a broader public, stressing simplicity, safety and a minimal user interface that lets the model act autonomously.
He noted strong adoption, citing 20 million users, and described ongoing efforts to cut costs, such as an 80% permanent discount on the Luna product. The conversation also touched on the importance of a robust safety stack and the iterative discovery process that guides product development.
