OpenClaw unveils version 2.0 with major usability and collaboration upgrades

OpenClaw rolled out version 2.0, marking the most extensive upgrade since its debut last year and involving 933 contributors and over 16,000 pull requests. The release focuses on reducing setup friction, automatically locating API keys, AI services and local runtimes, and enabling users to start interacting with their agents instantly. Desktop installers for Linux, Windows and macOS, as well as iOS and Android apps, now feature simplified permission and pairing flows.

The web interface has been rebuilt into a unified workspace that merges chats, files and system preferences, with added navigation tools like pinned threads and real-time markdown. New automation capabilities allow agents to monitor inboxes, flag urgent messages and reply across platforms such as Telegram and iMessage. The development team noted the slower release cadence reflected a shift toward larger, more coordinated engineering efforts.
