Operetta by Orbán János Dénes incurs large deficit despite extensive state subsidies and free tickets

The high-profile operetta "Dankó Pista" presented in March at the MVM Dome, overseen by Orbán János Dénes, failed to recoup its costs, leaving the project with a large financial shortfall. The Cultural and Innovation Ministry, led by Hankó Balázs, financed the majority of the budget, supplemented by contributions from the National Cultural Fund. Ticket revenue was modest, with just under four thousand sold at regular price and more than seven thousand handed out for free.

Additional income came from a televised recording fee, but it was insufficient to offset the expenses. The theatre did not disclose the exact composition of the public funding, but it confirmed that state support covered most of the outlays.
