Opposition Party condemns President Lee's golf game amid Daegu supermarket collapse

The People Power Party criticised President Lee Jae Myung for playing golf while a supermarket ceiling collapsed in Daegu, injuring dozens.

During a supreme council meeting, People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok challenged President Lee Jae Myung's decision to play golf as a supermarket ceiling collapsed in Daegu, leaving 38 people injured. He asked if real-time instructions could be given from the course. The presidential office asserted that Lee immediately ordered thorough rescue operations after being briefed.

PPP spokesperson Park Sung-hoon labeled the outing an "imperial" round and claimed the administration misled the public by framing it as preparation for golf diplomacy with Donald Trump. Ruling Democratic Party spokesperson Cho Gye-won and other lawmakers argued that the president was entitled to a day off and had fulfilled his duty by receiving updates and issuing commands.
