Orange tops Romania's 5G coverage while Digi leads in 4G, nPerf data shows
According to the latest nPerf barometer, Orange holds the highest 5G coverage share in Romania, whereas Digi is the leader in 4G coverage.
A new nPerf barometer released this week compares the mobile network performance of Romania's three main operators. Orange emerges as the clear leader in 5G coverage, achieving an index of 39.75%, while Vodafone and Digi record 24.79% and 21.22% respectively. The 4G landscape tells a different story: Digi claims the top spot with a 96.84% index, edging out Orange's 96.77% and Vodafone's 94.79%.
The measurements stem from user tests conducted through the Android nPerf application. nPerf CEO Sébastien de Rosbo highlighted the market's polarization, noting that 4G is now fully mature while 5G expansion remains uneven, particularly in rural zones. Complementary data from regulator ANCOM shows fixed broadband speeds rising by almost 45% year-on-year, whereas average mobile download speeds fell by 28% due to a surge in user testing.
