Orbán Viktor returns to historic Fidesz headquarters and outlines post-defeat rebuilding plan

In a brief social-media post, Orbán Viktor revealed that he has re-occupied the Fidesz headquarters on Lendvay utca, the party’s original base before a 16-year relocation. He narrated the building’s past, from its early use by a carpet merchant to its role as the State Church Office during the Kádár era, and noted that it remains the sole surviving former parliamentary-party property. Reflecting on earlier returns after defeats in 2002 and now, he said the recent electoral loss demands a major internal overhaul and a push to attract younger voters.

Orbán described the headquarters as a “safe nest” that will support the party’s rebuilding efforts. He warned that while Fidesz is currently a minority, it will continue to voice its positions and prepare for the next political contest.
