Edgar Grospiron, who was appointed president of the organising committee for the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French Alps, is expected to vacate his position after just 18 months. Negotiations about the conditions of his exit are currently under way, and the committee’s executive board will meet on Thursday to address the issue. The source, who asked to remain anonymous, noted that Grospiron narrowly avoided dismissal during the Milan-Cortina Games earlier this year, when director general Cyril Linette resigned, citing "insurmountable disagreements."

Key parties such as the French government, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions, as well as the French Olympic and Paralympic committees, CNOSF and CPSF, have informed the International Olympic Committee that trust in Grospiron has been broken. The leadership change adds uncertainty to the preparation of the 2030 Games.
