Oriental Mindoro hog farmers suspend sales for three-day protest
Hog raisers in Oriental Mindoro are halting sales from Thursday to Saturday in a three-day “pork holiday” to protest falling farmgate prices.
The Oriental Mindoro Alliance of United Hog Raisers announced a temporary stop to hog sales from October 22 to 24. The move follows a call by AGAP Party-list Rep. Nicanor Briones for a coordinated protest. Farmers say the price decline is driven by a surge of imported pork entering local markets. The three-day halt is intended to pressure authorities to address the issue.
