OroraTech teams up with Eutelsat to launch up to 96 infrared sensors in orbit
German firm OroraTech announced a partnership with French satellite operator Eutelsat to place up to 96 infrared sensors on upcoming low-Earth-orbit satellites.
The agreement, revealed at the International Space Summit in Paris, secures capacity for 48 hosted payloads with an option for another 48. OroraTech says the deal will boost its observation capability by almost 500 percent, expanding what it calls the world’s largest commercial thermal-imaging satellite network. Integrating the sensors onto Eutelsat’s spacecraft, rather than launching dedicated satellites, should allow faster scaling at lower cost.
