Orthopaedist attacked by patient’s son during examination at Kalyan private hospital
An orthopaedic surgeon was assaulted by the son of a rib-fracture patient at a private hospital in Kalyan, prompting police intervention.
While treating a rib-fracture patient at a private hospital in Kalyan, orthopaedist Dr. Yogendra Jaiswal was confronted by the patient’s son, Nitin Deshmukh, who repeatedly challenged him from outside the cabin. The doctor noted that the son addressed him informally, prompting a verbal dispute. Nitin then entered the cabin, verbally abused the doctor and allegedly assaulted him, with the altercation lasting about five to six minutes and causing distress among other patients.
Dr. Jaiswal dialed 112, after which police arrived, the accused departed the scene, and an FIR was lodged. Authorities confirmed the investigation is ongoing. The incident follows earlier assaults on doctors in the region, including a case involving Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre.
