Oslo monthly transit pass price slashed by 160 kroner for six months
The cost of a monthly public-transport ticket in Oslo will fall from 655 to 495 kroner, a 160-kroner cut that begins in November and lasts for half a year.
Starting in November, Oslo's monthly public-transport ticket will be priced at 495 kroner instead of 655 kroner, representing a 160-kroner reduction for the next six months. The change stems from a budget agreement negotiated in June by Arbeiderpartiet, Senterpartiet, SV, Rødt and MDG. A similar fare cut applies in Akershus, where a one-zone ticket will cost 759 kroner.
Marit Vea, Oslo's transport council member, welcomed the move as the fulfillment of a pledge to commuters and noted that the financing comes from both the national government and the city. While state aid is currently guaranteed only until 2026, Vea expressed confidence that future parliamentary allocations will sustain the lower fares. The agreement reflects a broader effort to make public transport more affordable across the region.
