Oslo police probe a series of mutilated cat deaths in western suburbs

Police in Oslo are investigating five cases of dead, dismembered cats discovered between August and October in Oslo West and Bærum, with no suspect identified yet.

Five distinct cases of cats discovered dead and partially dismembered have been recorded in Oslo West and Bærum from August through October, according to a press release from the Oslo Police District. The incidents occurred in Høvik, Stabekk, Bekkestua/Lysaker, Hovseter and Smestad, with the last known sightings ranging from mid-August to early October. The felines have been forwarded to a forensic lab, and investigators are awaiting the autopsy findings to determine cause of death.

Both technical and tactical investigations are in progress, yet no suspect has been named and several hypotheses remain open. Police lawyer Cecilie Gulnes appealed to locals to stay vigilant, report any odd activity, and examine door-bell, car and property camera recordings for relevant clues.
