Oslo rail services halted as train drivers strike, alongside a series of European incidents

A train-driver strike will shut down all arrivals and departures at Oslo Central Station from Saturday morning until early Sunday, while separate incidents across Europe involve a convicted bus driver, a Palestinian killed in the West Bank, and a school attack in Poland.

Oslo Central Station will see no train movements on Saturday as a driver strike enforces a total shutdown from 06:00 to 04:00 the following day, according to Norwegian reports. In Sweden, police interrogated the driver of a recent highway bus crash; he has previous convictions for severe drunk driving and fleeing an accident scene. Palestinian officials claim an Israeli soldier opened fire on a group of olive-pickers north of Nablus, killing a 44-year-old member of the Palestinian Authority security forces.

A separate incident in Poland involved a 19-year-old student who attacked a vocational school with a knife, leaving at least seven injured, two seriously. Other items include a fatal assault in Malmö's Hyllie district, the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Henri B. Kagan and Kenso Soai, and a rise in Sweden's KPIF inflation rate to 1.5 percent in September.
