Oslo's Used OBOS Home Prices Slip 1.1% in September Amid Seasonal Trend
Used OBOS apartment prices in Oslo fell 1.1% from August to September, continuing a typical autumn slowdown after earlier gains.
In September, prices for used OBOS apartments in Oslo decreased by 1.1% compared with August, aligning with the normal autumn dip after a spring-time rise. Sissel Monsvold, OBOS’s chief economist, predicts the downward trend will likely continue through the season, though she expects a flat-lined, seasonally adjusted outlook thanks to solid real-wage growth and a resilient labour market. Elevated interest rates are still curbing purchasing power for many families, tempering overall demand.
The OBOS data set covers roughly a quarter of Oslo’s resale market, and the city’s price movement has been weaker than many other Norwegian cities this year as former rental units enter the sale market. Across Norway, OBOS prices fell 2.9% in September, a drop influenced by a high share of large, lower-priced homes sold outside Oslo. National housing statistics will be released next Monday by Eiendom Norge.
