Ossoff's staffer receives Gates grant to test reparations messaging

Senator Jon Ossoff’s data and analytics director, Bryant Moy, secured a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to examine how awareness of historic racially restrictive housing covenants affects white Americans’ attitudes toward reparations. Moy, who teaches at New York University and leads the Urban Politics Lab, will run a nationally representative survey experiment to test informational and visual interventions.

The project, named “Can Knowledge of Racially Restrictive Covenants Increase Support for Redress?” is listed as under review. Moy is also working on Ossoff’s 2026 re-election campaign. Earlier reporting highlighted Ossoff’s past statements supporting reparations, though he has not backed Senator Cory Booker’s recent reparations commission bill. The senator now faces Republican challenger Mike Collins in the November race.
