Oura targets September US IPO seeking $3 billion at over $16 billion valuation
Oura plans a US initial public offering as early as next month, aiming to raise $3 billion and achieve a valuation above $16 billion.
Oura, the maker of a smart sleep-tracking ring with headquarters in San Francisco and Finland, is preparing a US IPO that could close as soon as next month. The company aims to raise $3 billion, which would lift its market value to north of $16 billion, far exceeding the $10.9 billion assessment it received after an $875 million Series E round last September. The upcoming float will likely involve a large block of stock sold by current shareholders.
Competitors such as Samsung, which introduced its Galaxy Ring two years ago, and Whoop, recently valued at $10 billion after broadening its health-monitoring features, have intensified pressure in the wearables market. Oura has shifted from a niche bio-hacking tool for executives to a mainstream sleep-and-recovery brand, filing a confidential IPO request in May.
Why it matters
The IPO could reshape the wearables market and signal strong investor appetite for health-tech companies.
