Over 15,000 police to be deployed for Manila's 54th Martial Law commemoration

The National Capital Region Police Office announced that roughly 15,227 police personnel will be on duty at 11 p.m. on September 19 to prepare for the 54th Martial Law commemoration. Lieutenant Colonel Hazel Asilo explained that the force will be bolstered by units from adjacent regions and will concentrate on historically significant convergence points, including Ayala Bridge, Mendiola, C.M. Recto, the People Power Monument, the EDSA Shrine and Luneta.

While no organization has secured a rally permit for the Monday event, police are monitoring social media for signs of unsanctioned mobilizations. They noted that last year's disruptions were caused by individuals, many minors, who were not part of legitimate protest groups. Arrest warrants for the leaders of those disruptive factions are on standby, and coordination with other agencies and border checkpoints is ongoing. Drivers may be stopped for inspection as part of the heightened security measures.
