Over 500 Soldiers from 19 Nations Gather in Dâmbovița for Major NATO-Style Drill

Dâmbovița’s Ochiuri training centre will host one of the largest multinational interoperability drills organized by the Jandarmeria Română. More than 500 gendarmes and soldiers representing 19 countries on three continents are slated to take part in the “Carpathian Blue Shield” exercise. Senior representatives, including the commander of the European Gendarmerie Force, a delegate from the European External Action Service and an FBI negotiator, will observe the maneuvers.

The training will simulate intricate conflict scenarios in a province plagued by insecurity, focusing on joint response, coordination and communication among the forces. Organizers say the primary goal is to prepare participants for future EU-sponsored international missions. The drill underscores Romania’s growing role in European security cooperation.
