Over a quarter of EU youths live in overcrowded households, Eurostat reports
Eurostat data show that more than one in four young people in the EU are residing in homes that are too crowded.
According to Eurostat, a sizable proportion of young Europeans aged 15 to 29 are living in households that exceed capacity. Portugal's share of overcrowded homes for this age group is below the EU average, placing the country 16th out of 27 members. The most affected nations are Romania, Latvia and Bulgaria, each with a majority of young residents in cramped conditions. Conversely, Cyprus, Ireland and Malta exhibit the smallest shares of youth overcrowding. The data highlight persistent disparities in housing adequacy among EU member states.
