Over RM123 million Disbursed to Veteran Welfare Program in Bukit Katil
More than RM123 million was allocated to the Sara Hidup assistance program for veteran welfare, covering health, housing and economic support.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that more than RM123 million has been channeled to the Sara Hidup assistance scheme for former armed forces personnel. The funds support a range of needs, including medical care, housing, schooling and livelihood projects, and were inspected during a visit to the Program Peduli Veteran Madani centre in Bukit Katil. Senior officials, including the deputy deputy-assistant-director Sophie S Ismail and Maj Muhammad Zarifi Tumin, oversaw the distribution to 14 households comprising seven elderly veterans, six widows and one disabled child.
Aid items ranged from hospital beds and mattresses to wheelchairs, walking frames, disposable diapers and veteran-specific benefits such as BSH, veteran cards and funeral assistance. The initiative is part of the Defence Strategy 2026-2030, specifically Core 7, which aims to strengthen overall veteran welfare through coordinated agency action.
