OVHcloud announces up to 87% price increase to offset soaring hardware costs
OVHcloud CEO Octave Klaba says server rental prices will rise as much as 87% starting in September to cover sharply higher memory and storage expenses.
OVHcloud's chief executive Octave Klaba announced that the provider will lift rental fees for new servers by up to 87% beginning in September, citing a six-fold rise in RAM costs over the past twelve months and further expected increases. Prices for NVMe drives have jumped sevenfold, and hard-disk costs are up 3.5 times, while CPUs, motherboards and network cards have risen 15-20%. Gaming-focused servers will bear the highest increase, with other recent hardware seeing 40-59% hikes.
From October 1, storage and IP address usage will be billed separately at €0.000146 per GB-hour and €0.0027 per hour respectively. OVHcloud will also drop its one-month, six-month and 24-month price-lock plans, retaining only 12- and 36-month saving options, and Klaba apologized for the adjustments while noting the pressure from the AI-driven hyperscale market.
