P.F. Chang's shuts its Fashion Island location after 32 years
The P.F. Chang's restaurant at Newport Beach’s Fashion Island mall closed abruptly after more than three decades, leaving staff surprised.
P.F. Chang's ended its 32-year run at the upscale Fashion Island shopping center in Newport Beach, posting “Permanently Closed” signage after its final service last week. A local real-estate agent noted that workers discovered the decision only after completing their last shift, with no chance for a proper farewell.
This marks the latest in a series of casual-dining exits from the mall, joining The Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Kitchen, both of which have already left. The Irvine Company appears to be redesigning the space, favoring newer, trendier eateries such as Telefèric Barcelona and the upcoming Levain Bakery. Community members expressed nostalgia for the long-standing venues while anticipating the new concepts.
Neither P.F. Chang's nor the Irvine Company responded to requests for comment.
