Pakistan captain Fatima Sana fined for conduct breach after Asia Cup loss to India
Fatima Sana was fined 10% of her match fee and given a demerit point for a Code of Conduct breach during Pakistan's defeat to India in the Women's Asia Cup.
During the Women's Asia Cup Group A match at Dubai International Stadium, Pakistan lost to India by seven wickets. After dismissing Shafali Verma, captain Fatima Sana made a gesture toward the pavilion, which the ICC deemed a breach of Article 2.5 of its Code of Conduct. The governing body imposed a fine equal to 10% of her match fee and added a demerit point, her second such penalty within the past two years, the first occurring in a T20I against Ireland in August 2025.
The charge was raised by umpires Nimali Perera and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan, and was accepted by Fatima following a proposal from Supriya Rani Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. No formal hearing was required. Fatima will still lead Pakistan in their next Asia Cup fixture against Hong Kong, a match they must win to stay in contention for the semi-finals.
