Pakistan Cricket Board sends players home, cyber agency summons two for phone data review
Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were among seven cricketers recalled from England and have now been summoned by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency to provide data from their mobile phones.
Following a 194-run defeat to England at Lord's, the Pakistan Cricket Board recalled seven members of its touring squad, among them wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan and batsman Imam-ul-Haq. The board later handed the players' mobile phones to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, which has now served summons to Rizwan and Imam for questioning based on data retrieved from the devices. A third cricketer is also said to have been notified by the agency.
The PCB has not publicly clarified the reason for confiscating the phones. In parallel, the board is probing the selection process that placed Rizwan and Imam in the Test squads for the West Indies and England tours, demanding a written explanation from a selection committee member. Coaching staff changes accompanied the squad overhaul, with head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul dismissed and replaced by Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke.
