Pakistan International Airlines flight lands in Manchester after mid-air medical emergency
A Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777 en route from Islamabad to Manchester declared a medical emergency over the North Sea and touched down safely at Manchester Airport.
The Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777-240LR departed Islamabad at approximately 12:15 pm local time and proceeded normally across Asia and Europe for eight hours. Shortly after crossing into UK airspace over the North Sea, the crew transmitted the 7700 emergency code to report a medical issue on board. The plane descended and arrived at Manchester Airport around 4:30 pm, landing roughly 30 minutes before its planned 5:00 pm arrival.
Airport officials said medical personnel were waiting on the runway, and the RAF clarified that no fighter escort was deployed. This incident follows a recent Jet2 flight that was diverted to Frankfurt for a similar medical situation.
