Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lands in London before UNGA address in New York
Shehbaz Sharif arrived in London for a brief stop before traveling to New York to speak at the UN General Assembly.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached London on Thursday, beginning a short stopover before his scheduled departure for the United States on Saturday to attend the high-level portion of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. The foreign ministry confirmed he will deliver a speech on Sept 25, using the platform to present Pakistan’s stance on global and regional developments. Accompanying him will be Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other federal ministers and senior officials.
In addition to the address, Sharif is expected to meet world leaders bilaterally and take part in high-level events, emphasizing Pakistan’s efforts to promote a peaceful resolution to the ongoing US-Iran tensions that dominate discussions on the security of the Strait of Hormuz. He is likely to return to Pakistan around Sept 27-28, possibly stopping again in London for a day or two.
