Pakistan trims FY26 GDP growth to 3.65% as industrial and services slow
Pakistan's government lowered its FY26 GDP growth estimate to 3.65% due to a modest slowdown in industry and services, missing its target.
During the 118th session of the National Accounts Committee, Pakistan's government announced a revised GDP growth rate of 3.65% for FY26, reflecting a mild slowdown in both industrial output and services activity. The adjustment means the country fell short of its previously announced growth target. Sectoral estimates were updated to 3.50% for agriculture, 3.34% for industry and 3.81% for services, compared with earlier higher projections.
The national accounts also incorporated revised import data from FY21 to FY25 and updated quarterly growth rates for FY25-26. Overall economic size increased to $450.4 billion, driven mainly by services, with per-capita income rising to $1,896, though it remains the region's lowest.
Why it matters
The revised growth rate signals slower economic momentum, affecting policy decisions and living standards in Pakistan.
