Palestinian poll shows waning trust in Hamas and Fatah amid war fatigue
A new Jerusalem Media and Communication Center poll finds that over half of Palestinians distrust all political factions, with support for Hamas and Fatah falling sharply.
The Jerusalem Media and Communication Center surveyed 1,200 Palestinians across the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza, uncovering a steep decline in confidence toward existing political groups. Fifty-five percent expressed no trust in any faction, up from 43.3% a year earlier, and only 6.7% still trust Hamas, down from 12% in July 2022. Support for Fatah stands at 27.5%, with Mahmoud Abbas, Marwan Barghouti and Mohammed Dahlan each drawing less than 7% personal trust.
Respondents overwhelmingly back peace talks (55.8%) and a two-state solution (47.9%), while backing for armed struggle fell to 13.3%. The poll also shows that 50.1% view ending the Gaza war as the top priority for leadership, and 42.9% anticipate international administration of Gaza after the conflict.
