Pamela Anderson shares triumph over hepatitis C at amfAR Venice gala

During the amfAR Venice gala, Pamela Anderson delivered a heartfelt speech about her late-1990s hepatitis C diagnosis, which doctors once called a death sentence, and the costly cure she secured by 2015. She said the ordeal reshaped her life and now powers her recent film work, including a new movie debuting at the Venice Film Festival. Anderson received amfAR's Award of Courage, while the ceremony also celebrated Marina Abramović with an Award of Inspiration. Hosted by Taika Waititi at the Hilton Molino Stucky, the night included performances by Mimi Webb and Bebe Rexha and a series of high-value charity auctions, such as an Andy Warhol painting and a "Lord of the Rings" set experience.
