Panthers rookie Jimmy Horn Jr. battles for roster spot amid strong preseason showing

Jimmy Horn Jr., a 2025 sixth-round draft selection, made his NFL debut in October 2025 and has since been a key target in the Panthers’ preseason, including a clutch catch against Miami and a four-catch performance in the Hall of Fame Game against Arizona. Coach Dave Canales highlighted Horn’s continued speed, toughness and competitive edge, noting his progress in practice and his role as the secondary return specialist.

Last season Horn logged 11 receptions for 108 yards and added 69 rushing yards on eight carries, while still seeking his first professional touchdown. He now faces a tight battle for the WR6/7 position against Brycen Tremayne, John Metchie III and Ja'seem Reed. With WR3 Xavier Legette sidelined for the upcoming game, Horn could see increased snaps as the Panthers head to Buffalo’s new Highmark Stadium for their season opener.
