Paramount Veteran Kathie Hoops Passes Away at 66

Kathie Hoops, a senior financial executive at Paramount Pictures, died at 66 following a battle with cancer.

Kathie Hoops, born Katheen Sullivan in October 1959, began her career with Gulf + Western in New York in March 1984 before moving to Paramount's Los Angeles office in May 1986. After earning an accounting degree from Rider University in 1982, she rose to vice president of residuals in February 1994, a role she held for three decades, managing the setup, data security, calculations and distribution of residuals for all Paramount productions.

She contributed expertise to collective-bargaining negotiations and spearheaded a new software platform for residual payments. Hoops died on July 31 in Woodland Hills after a cancer battle, having left Paramount in April 2024 during company-wide cuts. Survivors include her husband Richard, children Allison and Casey, and her siblings, with a celebration of life planned.
