Parent cited for tripping 9-year-old player during Wisconsin youth football game
A parent was issued a disorderly-conduct citation after deliberately tripping a nine-year-old running back during a youth football match in Racine, Wisconsin.
At a youth league contest in Racine, a 41-year-old parent of a spectator crossed onto the field and extended his left leg to trip a nine-year-old Case Eagles player who was advancing toward a touchdown. Both the child and the adult fell, prompting officials to halt the game. Mount Pleasant police later cited the individual for disorderly conduct after he acknowledged the incident during a traffic stop.
Coach Channing Schultz of the Eagles said the boy escaped serious injury but condemned the act as cowardly. The parent has been prohibited from attending any further games this season, while the coach called for a lifetime ban. Community members voiced shock and called for harsher penalties on social media.
