Parent stops Oregon school shooter after teacher intervenes, four killed

A 16-year-old former special‑needs student entered Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, and opened fire with a shotgun, killing three children aged five, eight and eleven and teacher Megan Lambert. A child in a wheelchair and a 54‑year‑old teacher were wounded. A teacher threw her phone at the gunman and tackled him, after which a parent, Kaylub Giamanco, entered the classroom and shot the shooter dead. Police arrived within three minutes and found the shooter dead and the victims identified. Governor Tina Kotek and President Donald Trump praised Giamanco’s actions as heroic.
