Paris Administrative Court overturns urgent expulsion order for Algerian influencer

Paris’s administrative court has cancelled the urgent expulsion order against Algerian social-media figure Boualem Naman, known online as Doualemn, and restored his residence permit. Naman, aged 61, had been sentenced to a suspended five-month prison term for incitement to violence after a TikTok video calling for harsh punishment of an Algerian regime opponent. The court ruled that the Interior Ministry’s dossier did not demonstrate an immediate risk to public order sufficient for an emergency removal, and noted that the judiciary had not deemed pre-trial detention necessary.

Consequently, the decree designating Algeria as the country of expulsion was also voided. The ruling did not address a second, non-urgent expulsion order, leaving the possibility of future removal open. His attorney, Vanessa Edberg, is exploring an appeal to the administrative court of appeal, arguing that the minister acted politically rather than on solid legal grounds.
