Paris antique dealer reports theft of Louis d’or coins worth about €1 million
On Friday, a Parisian antique dealer who works on the third floor of a building in the 14th arrondissement reported a burglary in which a collection of ancient coins and several gold Louis d’or, valued at nearly €1 million, vanished. The items had been stored in a pouch inside a desk drawer when the owner noticed they were gone early that evening. Investigators observed no evidence of break-in and the location is not covered by CCTV. No other belongings were taken. The investigation is now being handled by the brigade de répression du banditisme (BRB) of the Paris police prefecture.
