Paris court seeks seven-year term for Rémy Daillet over kidnapping and alleged coup plot

A Paris court has asked for a seven-year prison sentence for Rémy Daillet, accused of kidnapping a child in 2021 and of planning a far-right coup.

In Paris, the national anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office has asked a judge to impose a seven-year prison sentence on Rémy Daillet, the mastermind behind the 2021 kidnapping of a young girl called Mia. Daillet is additionally suspected of plotting a coup d’état as the leader of an ultra-right faction. The prosecution also seeks penalties for fourteen alleged accomplices, proposing punishments from a one-year suspended term up to five years of custodial sentences for offenses such as terrorist conspiracy and child abduction.

Lola M., the mother of the kidnapped child, is the only female defendant and faces a three-year sentence, with 19 months suspended. The trial is slated to conclude on Friday. Further details are pending.
