Paris Court Upholds Ban on Philippe Brun from Socialist Primary

On Wednesday, the Paris Court of Appeal dismissed Philippe Brun's appeal to rejoin the Socialist Party's primary, upholding the first-instance judgment. Judges said Brun could not convincingly argue that the party's statutes had been ignored or distorted. Additional documents revealed that a party member reported alleged misconduct by Brun, undermining his allegation of procedural fraud.

The court determined that this report negated any claim of a legal breach and that the party had acted within its rights. The Socialist Party noted that Brun's accusations against its leaders were unfounded and that the legal process was respected. Brun had been provisionally suspended after a party activist accused him of harassment, physical aggression and improper use of family employment. The primary is scheduled for early and mid-October.
