Paris police ban Urgence Palestine rally scheduled for commemoration day

The Paris police prefecture announced the prohibition of a demonstration organized by Urgence Palestine that was planned for the day of national commemorations.

Patrice Faure, the prefect of police in Paris, said the protest posed significant risks to public order given the heightened terrorist threat and historically high levels of antisemitic incidents. Consequently, the authorities barred the gathering organized by the Urgence Palestine collective. No further details have been released at this time.

Why it matters

The ban highlights heightened security concerns in Paris and the government's effort to prevent potential public disorder.
