Paris police extend curfew to a third night amid ongoing unrest
The Paris prefecture has renewed a nightly curfew for a third consecutive evening, restricting access to central districts and the Halles area from 23:00 to 06:00.
For the third night in a row, Paris authorities have reinstated a curfew that bars entry to the central square of République, the 10th and 11th arrondissements, and the area surrounding the Forum des Halles between 23:00 on Wednesday and 06:00 on Thursday. The decree exempts residents who can prove they live within the zones, workers required to be on site, public safety personnel and shopkeepers. In addition, any unregistered assemblies are prohibited from 20:00 to 06:00 in districts around the Élysée, the Interior Ministry, the Champs-Élysées, the National Assembly, Matignon, the Paris Palais de Justice, the police prefecture, the Senate and several major squares and stations. The RATP will shut down the République, Châtelet, Les Halles and Châtelet-Les Halles stations, along with nearby RER lines, starting at 22:00.
Why it matters
The curfew reflects heightened security concerns in Paris and limits movement and public gatherings in key city areas.
How the sides frame it

CENTER
Centrist coverage presents the curfew as a straightforward public-order measure, listing zones, times, exemptions and bans without evaluative language.
RIGHT
Right-leaning coverage frames the curfew as a reaction to urban violence and looting linked to recent social mobilisations.
The right emphasises
- urban violence and looting over the weekend
- the curfew as a response to “mobilisation sociale”
- ban on any “non-declared” gatherings
