Paris’s historic Enfants‑Rouges market gutted by fire

Firefighters responded to a large blaze at the Enfants‑Rouges market, the oldest covered market in Paris and a listed historic monument. The fire was brought under control, but the market was described as completely ruined, with its interior suffering total loss. The site, located in the 3rd arrondissement, housed a variety of vendors including restaurants, greengrocers, cheese shops, florists, caterers and wine merchants. Mayor Ariel Weil warned residents to stay away from Rue de Bretagne while the area is secured. Images of the emergency response were posted on social media.
