Parliament debates presidential office and lower house budgets, opposition abstains

During a committee meeting, officials presented the 2027 budget for the President's Office, while the lower house budget faced a split vote with the opposition staying silent.

At a budget committee session, Vašina reported the draft 2027 financial plan for chapter 301 of the President's Office, highlighting an increase in outlays driven by a 9.5 million CZK rise in salary allocations and mandatory employer insurance contributions. Ševčík inquired about potential rental earnings from spaces managed by Prague Castle; Vašina responded that such income is recorded under the contribution organization Správa Pražského hradu and that only archival service fees are included in the President's Office budget.

Meanwhile, the lower house budget discussion saw the coalition parties ANO, SPD and Motoristé sobě endorse a proposal with 9 million CZK in revenues against 1 667 200 265 CZK in spending, while opposition members abstained from voting. The budget also confirms a projected state deficit of 386 billion CZK that cannot be altered. Budget committee chairman Vladimír Pikora expressed dissatisfaction but voted for the plan, emphasizing governmental stability and a need for greater boldness next year. The second reading is scheduled for 25 November, with final approval set for 2 December.
