Parliament leaders briefed on urgent security threat ahead of elections
A confidential meeting in the parliament’s secure area warned group leaders of an acute security threat as elections approach.
On Thursday, the Finnish Parliament’s first deputy speaker Paula Risikko chaired a highly confidential meeting inside the parliament’s security facilities. Together with the parliament’s security director Aaro Toivonen, she briefed the leaders of every parliamentary group on an acute security issue that could impact legislators and parliamentary personnel. Risikko said the aim was to keep the work environment safe and that the approaching elections are likely to increase such threats.
