Parliament Speaker Forsthoffer Ágnes Submits Supplemental Disclosure on Family Business Interests

Speaker Forsthoffer Ágnes of the Hungarian Parliament has filed an additional clarification with the immunity committee about her ownership in a family enterprise.

A clash between the speaker and the deputy speaker of the Hungarian Parliament over alleged improper use of the parliamentary premises set the stage for Forsthoffer Ágnes to submit a supplemental clarification to the immunity committee. Earlier reports highlighted that her original wealth declaration omitted any mention of a family-owned business, even though the firm paid a dividend following the 2024 fiscal year. In her response, Forsthoffer Ágnes maintained that the income she did not receive need not be listed and that the disclosure criteria were outdated and vague.

She contended that her 28-percent ownership does not fall within the statutory requirements for reporting. The new statement provides details on her residual ownership and seeks to address the committee’s questions about the family company's financial ties.

Why it matters
