Parliament to Probe absent medical officers and AUKU reform bill today

During Question Time, MPs will query the Health Minister about missing medical officers in Sabah and Sarawak and ask the Higher Education Minister for an update on the draft bill to replace the 1971 AUKU law.

The parliamentary session in Kuala Lumpur will focus on several pressing issues. Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) will ask the Health Minister to disclose how many medical officers in Sabah and Sarawak missed the reporting deadline, why this occurred, and what actions will be taken. Sivakumar Varatharaju Naidu (PH-Batu Gajah) will request the Higher Education Minister’s briefing on the drafting of a new bill to replace the 1971 AUKU Act and the commitment to present it in December.

Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) intends to raise concerns with the Finance Minister about jurisdictional overlaps between the Securities Commission Malaysia and other regulators. Tan Hong Pin (PH-Bakri) will seek an update from the Digital Minister on achievements in digital literacy, AI skill building, and the strategic plan for cultivating high-skill digital talent. After the question period, the House will proceed with second readings of the Food (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Courts of Judicature (Amendment) Bill 2026.
