Parliamentarian Cieszyński’s disclosed note triggers criminal probe over document theft

A document disclosed by Janusz Cieszyński indicates that law-enforcement officers first sought Sopiński at the Ministry of Justice offices in Warsaw before proceeding to Karpacz, where the rector was present. In Karpacz they requested the Forum Ekonomicznego staff to deliver a meeting invitation to Sopiński, yet they never engaged with him personally, contradicting the version previously presented by ministry officials.

Following the revelation, the Ministry of Justice lodged a formal complaint with the prosecutor’s office, accusing Cieszyński of unlawfully removing documents from the ministry’s case files, including a missing order he later posted online. Additionally, the General Director of the Prison Service filed a separate complaint under articles 231 and 266 of the penal code for the disclosure of protected prison-service data.

Waldemar Żurek reiterated that the law applies to everyone, including parliamentarians, and affirmed that a complaint has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office. Cieszyński responded tersely on social media, offering to return a copy of the missing decree.
