Parliamentary committees reject Sebastian Burduja's nomination for Energy Minister

Sebastian Burduja, nominated by the Mureșan Cabinet for the post of Energy Minister, was denied a favorable opinion by the specialized parliamentary committees of both chambers. Members of the Economic Policy, Reform and Privatization Committee and the Industry and Services Committee in the Chamber of Deputies, together with the Economic, Industry, Tourism and Energy Committee in the Senate, recorded 34 votes against, 24 in favor and 5 abstentions.

These committees provide advisory opinions, but the ultimate appointment rests with the full Parliament under the constitutional procedure for forming the government. The negative recommendation signals significant parliamentary resistance to Burduja's appointment. The outcome will be decided when the plenary votes on the cabinet composition.
