Party leader urges swift, transparent disclosure of school attack details

The president of Parti Bangsa Malaysia called for immediate and factual release of information about a recent school assault involving a teenage suspect.

The president of Parti Bangsa Malaysia demanded that authorities disclose details of a school attack promptly and transparently, after speculation linked the case to a child from a powerful political family in Sarawak. He warned against turning the incident into a political issue, citing the Zara Qairina Mahathir case in Sabah as an example of politicization due to insufficient explanation. The suspect, a teenager, is accused of attacking a teacher with a small axe, causing injury to the teacher's hand, and broadcasting the assault on social media.

The Sarawak Police Deputy Commissioner confirmed the suspect was arrested and later released on bail. Police indicated the investigation proceeds under Section 324 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1) of the Explosive Substances Act 1957. A press conference will be held to update the public.

Why it matters

Transparent handling of the school attack is crucial to prevent political exploitation and ensure public trust.
