PAS chief Hadi records police statement on alleged 2014 US plot to unseat BN government

During PAS's 72nd annual muktamar, president Abdul Hadi Awang asserted that US officials had invited PAS leaders to the US Embassy in 2014 and offered assistance to topple the Barisan Nasional administration. He later appeared before police in Kuala Lumpur and, through his secretary Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman, indicated he would refrain from further remarks while the case proceeds. The US Embassy, via its head David H Gamble Jr, denied any such proposal. Authorities have opened an investigation under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act after 12 reports were filed, with Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar overseeing the probe.
