Pasqal launches AI system that writes and runs quantum code from plain English
A Paris-based quantum startup has created an AI tool that converts English prompts into quantum-computing programs and executes them on real quantum hardware.
Pasqal, a quantum-computing startup headquartered in Paris, announced an AI-driven platform that turns English-language descriptions into executable quantum code. The agent, detailed in a recent arXiv preprint, generates programs for Pasqal’s trapped-atom processors, checks them on a classical simulator, and then automatically runs them on quantum machines located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, or Sherbrooke, Canada. In three benchmark tests based on published physics papers, the system correctly identified hardware constraints and declined a deliberately impossible simulation, while in another scenario it needed extensive user feedback to achieve a physically accurate result.
Co-founder and co-author Christophe Jurczak reported that he could conduct experiments from his couch in Dallas without a team of specialist physicists. Chief technology officer Loïc Henriet highlighted the tool’s potential to lower the expertise barrier for quantum research, especially in quantum simulations of materials.
Why it matters
The AI could make quantum computing accessible to more scientists, speeding up research that today requires specialized teams.
