Passenger train derails near Cléon, dozens of passengers injured

A regional TER train traveling between Rouen and Caen left the tracks near Cléon on Friday evening, leaving multiple passengers hurt.

On Friday night, a TER passenger train operating the Rouen-Caen route derailed close to the town of Cléon, at the border of Tourville-la-Rivière and Elbeuf-Saint-Aubin. The incident happened at about 19:45, with roughly 200 people on board. The prefect of Seine-Maritime promptly set up an emergency operations centre and coordinated rescue efforts. Preliminary reports indicate that a number of passengers were injured, though exact figures have not been confirmed. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the derailment and provide assistance to those affected.
